Changing of the Guard at the Fair Campaign Practices Committee

After Impressive 10 Years of Service, Cohen Passes Reins to Flagg

CHAPPAQUA, NY (September 3, 2017) - Jennifer Mebes Flagg of Chappaqua has been appointed coordinator of the Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee, a nonprofit that has been promoting honest and fair political campaigns in Westchester County since 1991. Miriam Cohen of Larchmont, who has served commendably for ten years, is stepping down as coordinator but remaining a committee member.

Jennifer Mebes Flagg was a consulting pension actuary for almost 25 years, helping her clients assess and maintain the solvency of their retirement programs. She managed large teams of consultants as a partner with KPMG, where she spent most of her career. Jennifer’s extensive work experience helped her develop strong organizational skills, listen effectively and work collaboratively with others. She is currently co-president of the League of Women Voters of New Castle, a member of the New Castle Sustainability Advisory Board, and a Board member for the Chappaqua Summer Scholarship Program. Previously Jennifer held several Board positions with the Chappaqua PTA and has participated in many volunteer activities in the surrounding communities. She and her husband David have lived in Chappaqua for 29 years and raised three children.

The coordinator of the Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee is the liaison between the Committee, candidates who file complaints, and complainees. “With 21 members, political party representatives, and the participants in the complaint, it is challenging but crucial that the verification and distribution of complaint documents, scheduling, and communication are handled quickly and efficiently,” states Susan Guma, chair of the Committee. “We are extremely appreciative of Miriam’s exceptional service and welcome Jennifer to the Committee and the role of coordinator.”

The Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee’s purpose is to promote a climate in which candidates conduct honest, fair, and open campaigns, refrain from dishonest and defamatory attacks, and do not distort the facts. For additional information please visit faircampaignpractices.org.
